What we get called for

The three things that stop a door or window working

Screens

Flyscreens and security screens

It starts as a hole you keep meaning to fix and ends as a door nobody opens any more. Mesh tears, the rubber spline that holds it in dries out and lifts, and the frame springs away at the corner. Most screens can be re-meshed in the frame you already have, and in a Sydney summer that is the difference between leaving a door open and not.

  • Re-meshed in the existing frame where the frame is sound
  • New frames made to the opening where it is not
  • Pet resistant and midge mesh available where it suits
  • Rollers and corner stakes replaced while it is out

Locks and latches

Locks, latches and handles that have given up

Security screen doors get slammed a few thousand times a year and the mechanism wears out long before the door does. Usually the whole barrel does not need replacing, just the parts that have worn.

  • Locks, barrels and handles replaced or re-keyed
  • Latches re-aligned so the door catches on the first go
  • Closers adjusted so the door shuts without slamming
  • Deadlocks fitted where a door needs one

Sliding gear

Sliding doors and windows that fight you

A slider that needs a shoulder behind it is almost always rollers and a dirty track, not the door. Left long enough the weight starts chewing the track itself, and that is a much bigger job than a set of rollers.

  • Rollers replaced and adjusted so the door runs level
  • Tracks cleaned out, or capped where they have worn
  • Weather seals and brush strip replaced
  • Window winders, stays and locks repaired or replaced

Why us

The jobs a builder will not take are the jobs we are built for.

  • The small jobs are the whole business. A door, a fence panel, a list of five things. That is the work we are set up for, not the leftovers between big jobs.
  • You get the price before we start. Quotes are free and in writing, itemised, valid 30 days, and the quote says what is not included. Nothing is due on labour up front, and you can cancel at no cost before materials are ordered.
  • We say no when it is not our job. Supplying and installing a certified security door to the Australian Standard is a licensed installer job, and we will point you at one rather than pretend otherwise. Electrical, plumbing and gasfitting are licensed trades, and we refer waterproofing out as well.
  • Up to 5 years on our workmanship. 5 years on what we build new, 3 years on repairs to what was already there. On top of your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which no warranty can take away.

FAQs

What people ask about window and door repairs

If the frame is straight and the corners are sound, re-meshing is the cheaper and better job. If the frame has bowed or the corner stakes have let go we will say so, and quote a new frame made to the opening.

We repair and replace the working parts of security screen doors: locks, latches, handles, closers, hinges and mesh. Supplying and installing a certified security door to the Australian Standard is a licensed installer job, and we will point you at one rather than pretend otherwise.

Almost always the rollers and the track, not the door. Rollers flatten, the track fills with grit, and the door starts dragging on the frame. Replacing rollers and cleaning out the track fixes most of them in an hour.

Standard fibreglass, aluminium, pet resistant and finer midge mesh are all available. If you tell us what you have or send a close photo we will match it, and if you want to upgrade while it is out that is the cheapest time to do it.

If you have one screen, it is worth waiting until you have two or three small jobs on the list so the visit earns its keep. Most people find they have a latch, a screen and a window winder all waiting once they start looking.
